Out of comfort zone!

France 5th-17th August

This is my drawing of the Abbey in our town. I have being trying draw quicker and larger, this drawing took about an hour and a half.

I continued to draw people, choosing 3 people. I found it quite difficult as my family do not sit still. This is my dad.
As they moved a lot I tried to draw really quickly.
My Brother.
My Sister.
Whilst we were sitting on the beach I was struggling to find things that I wanted to draw and everything was moving. So I started drawing this pram and then the mother took it away so I had to make the rest up!
My backpack that my sister bought me for my birthday from Granada. I enjoyed choosing 3 colours for my drawings and using both line and paint.

My Dad's croc and hat.

Harry Potter drawing games with my sister.

View from  the house where my dad was working.

Opposite the house. Here I lay down colour then drew over the top.

Drawing In Spain 3rd July- 10th July

Back in Spain drawing with Martyn
This is my favourite drawing of the summer. I feel I have learnt a lot and developed my drawing style, now using a range of marks, colours and textures compared to my black line drawings. Design wise, i think the little gates could be portrayed in stitch.
Martyn then suggested I try to work bigger as my drawing are usually fairly small. I am not happy with the outcome at all and hope to improve my large scale drawing skills in the 3rd year!
We visited El Torcal. Rocks aren't really something I would normally draw so I decided to make it more interesting for myself by using turquoise, blue green, orange and reds. I am thinking about overlaying this image with line drawings or perhaps combining with less abstract looking images to create excited designs.

Granada 19th-26th June 1st-3rd July

Granada- After my first week in Cutar drawing I traveled to Granada with Rachel to see my sister! Each morning Rachel and I would get up and go and draw before everyone else woke up (about 3 pm)!
Al Hambra- Following up the advice from Martyn to try to work quicker and more losely.

Al Hambra- Here I have used paint, pen and pencils. I am really pleased with this! We sat out the look out point for a few mornings in the very hot sun whilst I completed this!

This is a very quick silly drawing which I completed whilst trying to hide from the 48c heat!

Drawing in Spain 12th-19th June 2012

My first drawing whilst in Spain! In that evenings tutorial Martyn (the drawing tutor) suggested I tried to draw without line as a challenge.

I also wanted to improve on drawing people so here was my first attempt.
Here was my first attempt of drawing without line. I found this very difficult and I was not particularly happy with the outcome. Out of comfort zone!
I then tried a different style of drawing using shading in pencil. I preferred this to the previous style of drawing but I was still struggling here!

Skip Drawing-
Below are drawings in a book that Martyn found in a skip the previous year in Spain! The book already had some numbers and markings which looked like the records of a shop or something. These numbers have a massive effect on my drawings as I have tried to work them into the designs resulting in a abstract look. There were three books in the skip. We are hoping to fills the books and then put them in an exhibition in Berlin next year.
