The Market

The Market

I took part in this Slow Makers market at Sackville Place, Magdalen Street. The ethos behind the group is all about locally made, eco, handmade textiles. I made my bags from fabrics that belonged to my great-grandmother who was a dress maker and scraps from the print room. I also made cards. I sold 2 bags and 2 cards and was extremely happy as these were my first ever sales!! Above is a drawing I did of a food cart whilst I was there!

Labels

After brainstorming with Ian Richardson at the City College Norwich we decided on the name 'WHITTON' (my last name). My house mate Abby Balcombe worked her graphic design magic and came up with these labels and some business cards!

Norwich Print- with stripes

I decided to try out orange stripes in the background, relating to the stripy market roofs. Again, I have used chiffon. I think the result if completely different when on stripes! What else could I put behind my Norwich print?

Scarf style design after looking at the book 'The Printed Square' which I bought at the Fashion Textiles Museum whilst I was on work experience at Zandra Rhodes

I created stripes with heat reactive dyes and a sponge!
